The British Columbia Applied Research and Innovation Network (BCARIN) is a collaborative and cross-disciplinary organization of British Columbia colleges and institutes. It is dedicated to establishing and developing a culture of and capacity for applied research and innovation to support the ongoing educational, economic and social development of our communities.
The network works with interested parties to foster a culture of applied research and innovation within British Columbia Colleges and fellow Institutions, while promoting applied research, innovation, continuous improvement and enhanced productivity in industries, businesses and community organizations.
While building applied research capacity with British Columbia Colleges and fellow Institutions, our research partnerships encourage student research, innovation, and community engagement. The network shares resources, expenditures, and best practices to encourage applied research collaborations that provide a platform for implementing knowledge in industry, business, and communities.
Members of BCARIN belong the Association of Canadian Community Colleges (ACCC), and are accredited to administer funding from the three major Canadian federal granting agencies—the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR), Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC), and Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC).
Our members offer a broad-range of expertise and experience in research and development and the required infrastructure to support innovation in industrial, corporate, or community contexts.
